Congratulations to this week’s trio of Players Of The Week from the USPHL Premier’s Southern Divisions (Southeast and Florida).
Forward: Demeed Podrezov, Florida Eels.
Podrezov’s hat trick on Sunday was key to an eight-goal comeback win (8-4) over the first place DME Swamp Rabbits in a clutch Florida Division matchup. Podrezov’s 11 goals put him into fourth on the Eels and he has 19 points on the season in 17 games. Podrezov is a 2000-born native of Moscow, Russia.
Defense: Austin Mourar, Richmond Generals.
In two games against the first place Hampton Roads Whalers, Mourar (‘99/Spring City, Pa.) had a goal and three assists, including two power play assists, for four points in Richmond’s split with previously undefeated Hampton Roads. He remains in the scoring lead among all Premier Division defensemen with 20 points in 23 games.
Goal: Aidan Richardson, Richmond Generals.
A three-year USPHL junior veteran, Richardson (‘00/Pittsford, N.Y.) stopped 37 of Hampton Roads’ 42 shots, and earned one assist, in the Generals’ upset victory over the Whalers on Sunday.
At 4-0, he is one of eight goalies in the league still undefeated after at least four starts, and he holds a .922 save percentage and a 2.18 goals against average.
