Head Coach, Florida Eels NCDC | Acting General Manager

A Legacy Continues: Frank Scarpaci III Named Head Coach of the Florida Eels NCDC Team, and General Manager of the Eels

Frank Scarpaci III has been a member of the Florida Eels organization for the past 14 seasons and is now the Head Coach of the Florida Eels NCDC team. He has been a key part of the nationally recognized Florida Eels during what many refer to as the organization’s “Golden Years.”

As a player, Scarpaci helped lead the Eels to three state championships and a berth at the USA Hockey National Championships, where the team finished eighth in the nation. His competitive success as a player laid the foundation for what has become an outstanding coaching career.

Now entering his 13th season behind the bench, Scarpaci has compiled more than 200 career coaching victories. During his tenure as head coach of the Eels Premier team, he guided the club to three league championship appearances and six semifinal appearances while earning a nomination for the USPHL Coach of the Year Award. As an assistant coach, he also helped lead the Eels to two league championships.

In recognition of his leadership, player development, and proven success, Scarpaci now serves as the Head Coach of the Florida Eels NCDC team, where he will continue to build on the organization’s long-standing tradition of developing elite junior hockey players and preparing them for collegiate and professional opportunities.

Throughout his coaching career, Scarpaci has helped numerous players advance to the next level, including NCAA Division I programs such as the University of Vermont and Northeastern University, NCAA Division III institutions including Colby College and Adrian College, as well as Major Junior organizations such as the Moncton Wildcats. Like his father, Frank Scarpaci Sr., he firmly believes that the primary responsibility of a hockey coach is to develop players both on and off the ice, helping them grow as athletes and as young men.

Before beginning his coaching career, Scarpaci played NCAA Division III hockey at Concordia University Wisconsin, bringing firsthand collegiate playing experience to his coaching philosophy. His dedication, hockey knowledge, and commitment to player advancement have allowed him to build an impressive résumé at a young age.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Frank Scarpaci III served for many years as the Florida Eels’ Assistant General Manager before assuming the role of Acting General Manager of the organization, proudly carrying on his father’s legacy. Under the mentorship of Frank Scarpaci Sr., he learned and embraced the core principles that have defined the Eels for decades: excellence in player development, strong character, accountability, and a commitment to helping every player reach their highest potential.

Today, Scarpaci continues to lead the Florida Eels organization with the same passion and vision, striving to build championship-caliber teams while maintaining the organization’s reputation as one of the premier development programs in North American junior hockey.
