The Divisional Battle Starts This Weekend
This weekend the Florida Eels have a home and away series against their chief Florida rivals the Palm Beach Hawks. Over the last two seasons the Eels and Hawks have battled for the number one spot in the Florida Division and Southern Conference. Proudly the Eels have taken hold of that position and intend to do so once again this season.
Friday night the Elite teams square off at 7:45 pm. The Eels are tied with Palm Beach with 8 points each. However, Palm Beach has only played 4 games whereas the Eels played 6. So these two games are critical for the Eels to win and gain the 4 points. Many of the Eels Elite players have not faced Palm Beach so this is another first for so many of the guys.
Coach Bloomingburg is working diligently in preparing the boys for this weekend’s games. These games are destine to be good old fashion barnburners. High tempo with a lot of emotions. The Elite team will travel to West Palm Beach Sunday for a 6:00 pm away game to complete the weekend.
The Empire team will face off this Saturday afternoon at 3:20 pm against Palm Beach Hawks Empire squad. These two teams equally have an enormous rivalry and have battled right down to the final games of the season for playoff spots, the Florida Division and Southern Conference title. Last year the Eels Empire team eliminated Palm Beach in the playoffs and advanced to the main Empire division playoff in New Jersey.
Like the Elite team there are a number of Empire players who never played Palm Beach so this weekend will also be a first for them.
The Eels Empire team is in 4th place and Palm Beach is in 6th place. However, the Eels have played 6 games compared to Palm Beach who played 3. So Eels wins are essential here as well. Coach Frankie is well versed in the spirit of these two rivalries having played himself years ago against Palm Beach Hawks. He has been preparing the boys for this weekend set.
The Eels coaches have exhaustively reviewed game tapes with the boys from last weekend’s games against Atlanta. Both teams spent this afternoon in two different sessions at Coach Scarpaci’s house where they had lunch and critically watched the games in Atlanta. The boys have seen where they broke down and how to improve their play.
The Empire team like the Elite team heads to Palm Beach Sunday for their 3:00 pm game
