This Friday-Sunday -The Florida Eels Juniors Compete In Ellenton USPHL College Showcase

The Florida Eels Juniors are heading to  Ellenton  this Friday – Sunday for their 3rd USPHL College Showcase.  Already there are 12-14 college coaches and scouts committed who will be there. This is a major event for our guys as many colleges have engaged the scouts and recruiters for evaluation of their needs for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 playing seasons. The recruiters will be traveling to Florida with one mission: scout players for the Northern Colleges and Universities. This is a very exciting opportunity for so many of our players. They have already attended their first USPHL Showcase in October at the North Carolina venue.  They also attended the Islanders College Showcase in November.

For 80% of the guys they never experienced that type of environment. A college showcase is not like a tournament. The games are so meaningful. They are not just league games but they are highly scouted events. It is not easy playing in front of so many college scouts. You know each move you make is under a microscope. Some players cannot play under this pressure. By exposing our players to as many showcases as we do, it gives them experience to compete under these conditions.

This is one of the Hallmarks of  the Eels program. We try to get the boys in as many of these showcases as possible.  Most Junior programs only have their players attend one college showcase. Some make a big deal of attending two. The Eels are very different. We are showcase centric.

During regular season we attend a minimum of 4 showcases.  Next month we bring the both teams to the USPHL Main Showcase where there are no less than 80 college recruiters and scouts in attendance. Moreover, after the initial round of playoffs in Florida for teams who advance we host them in Massachusetts. This is during the Boston Bean Pot. That event is the biggest college-recruiting forum in the world. Then Eels also attend 4 post-season college showcases. Two in May – the International NHL Pro Am Pre Draft. The USPHL May Showcase, In July the Sr Chowder Cup and the USPHL Summer Showcase. These venues provide total immersion for our players that garner a plethora of college opportunities with such wide scale exposure and visibility.

This weekend for many of our local fans and billet famines who do not get the opportunity to travel up north and see our boys play in a college showcase gives everyone the chance to experience and witness our boys in this setting. We invite anyone who might be interested in seeing the boys play to come and join us, whether for the entire weekend of just a game.

Here is a copy of the schedule for the Tampa Showcase. We love our fans that come out each and every home game and often travel to Tampa and Palm Beach to see our players.

Thanks and Good Luck to the guys…
