The Florida Eels are pleased to announce the re-signing of Matthew Clift for the 2020-21 season. Matt came to the Eels last season from Broomfield CO. He came to the Eels as a first-year player and lived up to the billing we expected. We loved what we saw at the CCM Showcase in Denver CO. We felt really good about him as a prospect. He closed to learning curve quite quickly. He ripened into a solid player. He captured plenty of ice time earning a regular spot on special teams as well being a staple on the power play and penalty kill units. He also proved to be a natural leader on and off the ice. His true leadership was felt down the stretch. He was a huge part of the team’s success in owning first place in its division. all season long. That was an incredible benchmark for this young man as he and his teammates cemented their accomplishments as the Florida Div. Regular Season Champions. In 44 GP he scored 13 loud goals and 18 assists. He has a high hockey IQ and plays with high compete level.
We are excited about Matt’s return to the Eels.
