The Florida Eels announce it first college commitment from its 2014-15 Empire team: Sergey Hall.  Sergey Hall commits to ACHA Div. I Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania.  Sergey reaches his life long dream of being a recruited player and earning a spot on a ACHA Div. I men’s college team.

 

Sergey played for the Florida Eels Empire team for the last two seasons. Sergey played in 17 games. Won 8 lost 9 and had a solid .934 Sav % and a 2.58 GAA. He is a solid goalie and recognized by the league as a two time weekly “goalie of the week” All Star  and was amongst the top 3 goalies in the USPHL Empire division. He has  “High skill set. Very quick glove and pads. Has a combined butter fly and acrobatic style. Attacks the puck well. Reads the play in front of him. Focused and the will and heart to win. Very aggressive goalie. He comes from great supportive family.

 

Sergey is a veteran in junior hockey player. Prior to playing for the Eels he played 1 year with the Florida Junior Blades. .

 

There were 3 NCAA Div. 3 colleges in New England and one college  out west that had recruited Sergey. He also was a major recruit from six ACHA Div. I colleges. Sergey did his due diligence in his quest to play college hockey, as he visited and toured 8 colleges. He got to speak with the coaches, staff,  academic advisors, school administration, the classes, dorms  and the overall facilities. After combing these options he fell in love with Slippery Rock University. It just felt right. From the coach, the facility, the academic program it was just right.

 

On behalf of the Florida Eels we wish Sergey the best. This is a great opportunity for him. He will bring a winning attitude and will to compete and be the best in the Eels tradition.
