Fort Myers, FL: The (7-1-0-1) Florida Eels Elite team secured the weekend sweep on Sunday afternoon when they shut out the Tampa Bay Juniors 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Fort Myers Skatium.
After a scoreless first period of action, Ryan Goral put the Eels on top at the 8:19 marker of the 2nd period. The lone assist on the final tally came from Easton Moore. Burtzlaff concluded the two-game series against the Juniors with a total of three goals and an assist.
Eels goalie Karlis Mezsargs earned the victory between the pipes to up his starting record to 1- 1-0-1 on the 2019-20 campaign. He stopped all 24 shots faced to grab his first shutout of the season.
The Eels now look forward to a rare weeknight tilt this Thursday night when they travel across town to battle the Florida Jr. Blades for the first time this season. Puck drop is slated for 9 PM at Hertz Arena in Estero.
