The Rick will be Rocking
Come Join Us For This Season’s Initial Games For the Eels Elite team vs. Roswell Bullies (formerly Space Coast Hurricanes) and the Empire Team’s Season debut vs. cross-town rivals the Jr. Blades
The Elite team plays Saturday at 3:20 pm in their first contest vs. Roswell this season. Roswell comes to town with a new name and additional owner who joined their program this season. Roswell did very well in the preseason summer showcase where they unveiled a number of their new players and did well against the Tampa Juniors winning both games 5-3 and 4-3 the beginning of September. However, they have struggled lately and should be very eager and hungry for a win. The Eels Elite are coming off a split weekend vs. Tampa so they too are looking to redress their loss and do plan to come out this weekend with 4 points. No doubt Coach Jason has the boys focused and fixated on a weekend sweep.
The Elite team looked really good Saturday at home but went scoreless on Sunday facing their 3rd shutout loss of the season. That simply does not happen to us say GM Scarpaci, so we need to get things shaken up. We made some line changes and roster moves that ought to produce more consistency.
The Eels are going on the road next Wed to Boston for a major showcase so this weekend is very important for the team. We need to come out of the gate hard and be quite hungry to set the tone for the long road trip where we will face very formidable opponents. Moreover, there will be dozens of scouts at the Islanders Showcase being held in part at Merrimack College so we need to produce and perform well. That needs to come not from a few guys but right down the 4 lines.
Sunday’s game will be at 10:30 am again at the Ft. Myers Skatium
On Saturday at 8:50 pm the Eels Empire team will have the biggest game of the year thus far for the Empire squad. The Eels face off against the cross-town Empire division rivals the Junior Blades. On Saturday evening the Fort Myers Skatium ought to be rocking. Once again the Blades come in with older guys being that they only have one team. But don’t expect the Eels players to roll over and let the Blades take the weekend’s 4 points. Coach Frankie Scarpaci and his squad have been preparing very hard for this weekend’s showdown. The Empire players are also ready and determined to show the Blades just what they have in their tank and loosing is not what is in store.
Like the Elite squad, the Empire team was shaken up over the past week with additions to the roster spot by adding Court Boyd and the return of Briscoe, and Clingerman and last year’s veteran Alec Vyverberg. Alec can put the puck in the net. He is extremely fast and has a nose to score. These guys will add depth to the squad and no doubt measurably strengthen the team
The Eels Empire guys travel across town Sunday for their away game. Warm ups are at 11:00 am
The Empire team is also embarking on their Boston Showcase in a few days and they know that the teams up north are going to be a tough challenge as well. So we are planning some new options in preparation for these next 5 major games.
We appreciate you joining us for the games this weekend. This ought to be a very exciting set of games and no doubt that brings out the best of all of you in supporting our two teams.
