The Florida Eels Are Very Excited to Announce the Signing of Ukrainian Star Defensemen Pavel Timochko to the Eels Junior Program.

GM Scarpaci notes he scouted and recruited Pavel from his debut in the USA at the prestigious Pro-Am NHL Pre-Draft last May. He played for team Euro: Ukraine/Russia. In fact, the Eels prospects team got to play against Pavel at the showcase. It was at that game I noticed him. He caught my attention at that game which prompted me to scout his additional 4 games at the showcase. 

Coach Frank Scarpaci said he was impressed with Pavel’s decision making during the games. For a young player, he made excellent first passes on the breakout.  He made some solid decisions in his own zone and battled very nicely in front of his crease; that was impressive as a younger guy. He handled the puck well. Had a nice shot from the blueline. In He was solid in all 3 zones.

Coach Alex Sanchez said he was impressed the way Pavel handled himself against older and more experienced players. He sees the ice very well and finds the seams real well. He did not come unraveled. This was a tough showcase. There were many very high-end guys there and Pavel did very well.

GM Scarpaci concludes, “we see Pavel as a key member of this year’s program.  He plays an aggressive style that fits perfectly within the Eels system. A young man who can be an impact player. Moreover, he is a player who has enormous upside for our future. He is a player who will significantly benefit from 600+ hours of intense ice and off ice conditioning.   Pavel is a  young man who has played for some pretty solid teams in The Ukraine including  Visby/Romaand Sokol Kiev. These are very good programs known for their player development. He brings the passion and excitement to his team. You can hear him. Very vocal. The Eels defense is expected to be strong and Pavel is another example why.”
