The Florida Eels are Very Excited to Announce Cade Swygert’s Commitment to ACHA Div. I Roosevelt University.

Cade played 167 junior games in the USPHL, and all were with the Florida Eels. He epitomes player development. He played his first two seasons with the Eels Elite team. In his rookie season he scored 3 goals and notched 9 assists. It was a truly a development year for him. He broke out in his sophomore campaign in the Elite Division where he was bestowed team Captain and took ownership of the team and its character. In that year he led his team to Nationals. He scored 10 goals and notched 31 assists. He continued to work hard over the summer and attended 4 of the post seasons showcases and his development truly blossomed. He made the quantum jump to the Premier team. There he made his adjustments to ripen into a solid stay home defenseman. He assisted his team in again winning the USPHL Florida Division and advanced to the USPHL Nationals. Last season he was selected unanimously as team Captain and lead his team to another Divisional title and to Nationals where his team made it to Finals and was one goal away from taking it all. He truly ripened into one of the league’s top defensemen scoring 5 goals and notching 23 assists for 28 points in the Premier Division. That is not an easy task!

Cade will be a true asset for Roosevelt University’s program. He has very strong skill set. Solid skater. Very good puck movement skill. Very tough to play against in the Defensive zone. Very good gap control. And a consummate treat to the offensive blue line. He has been recognized by his peers having been repeatedly named Assistant Captain and Captain on each of his season with the Eels. He is an outstanding leader as evidenced by his team’s systematic winning of the Florida Divisional titles and their repeated advancement to Nationals. He had been selected numerous occasions to Player of the Week, Player of the Month, and year-end All-Star team. He was selected this past season to the Hub City League All Star Team as well.

Despite his extremely energetic and enthusiastic character on the bench and on the ice, he is a quite humble young man from Summerville SC with impeccable character. He isone of our most loyal and dedicated players who ever sported an Eels jersey. He has unmatched work ethic, and this will boast well in college.  Cade had a plethora of offers from colleges. He felt that Roosevelt and playing for Coach Billy Karr was the perfect fit for him with their academic program and his hockey team. We wish Cade the very best.
