Maksim Gruzdev is a top Russian player who played in the Div. 1 and Div. 2 Jr. 20 Swedish League for the Wings. He comes from Moskva Russia where he had a very impressive youth hockey career. Maksim Gruzdev was first scouted by the Eels in Boston at the 2014 Pro Am NHL Pre Draft where he impressed many Junior A scouts including the Eels coaching staff. He is a client of Key Sports who are family advisors and strongly recommended his acquisition.
Initially Maksim Gruzdev was trying out for Amarillo in the NAHL. He definitely has very strong skill set. Coach Bloomingburg commented that he has phenomenal hands great vision and plays so well with other players. He has quick feet nice reaction and hits like a pro player. Maksim Gruzdev has a very accurate and strong shot. We expect him to replicate what he did in Sweden. There he had over 35 goals last season and as many assist. He is 6’2” 188 pounds of muscle. He plays RW and shoots left.
Maksim Gruzdev is getting acclimated to the North American style of play. Coach Bloomingburg stated he reminds him a lot like Fredrik Wink who played for the Eels two seasons ago. Wink was the league-leading scorer and simply dominated not only in Florida and the South but also in the entire league.
