PRESSURE COOKER IN DAYTONA – EELS ELITE TEAM EDGES SWAMP RABBITS 3-2

PRESSURE COOKER IN DAYTONA – EELS ELITE TEAM EDGES SWAMP RABBITS 3-2

2 FEB | BY FRANK SCARPACI

On Friday evening in Daytona it was a battle of the wills between these two East West Coast of Florida rivals. The game went back and forth all night with excellent scoring chances by both teams. The Eels coaches counted 32 shots unleashed by their own team and DME fired back with over 40. Both net minders played solid for both clubs.

The players stepped up the pace with playoff flavor with intense back checking and very tenacious fore-checking by both Elite teams. The Eels kicked off the scoring in the first minute as follows:
Daniel McCormick (5) ASST: Thomas Zebley (12), Jake Court (49) (PP)

McCormick continues to improve each game and has been a key factor in a number of goals since his arrival from Canada a few weeks ago.

DME tied it up in the first period bring it even.

The teams remained scoreless in the 2nd period as defense was at its best for both clubs and the goalies turned away all shooters

Then in the 3rd period the Eels struck again by Eels sniper TJ Zebley who seems to have his way with just about any goalie.

Thomas Zebley (8) ASST: Trevor Voyda (22) (SH)

Then Eels veteran Anthony Sozio scored the game winner – the Eels 3rd goal in the 3rd period to seal the game. DME did manage to get a 2nd but it was too little too late so to speak.

In the remaining 2 minutes the Eels put on a clinic shutting down DME and preventing them from pulling their goalie with sufficient amount of time to turn up the heat.

In net for the Eels was Nahuel Veyan who did so well last night.

The two teams square off Sunday at 10:30 am at the Fort Myers Skatium to complete the home and away series and this in fact concludes the regular season games vs the DME Swamp Rabbits.
