Congratulations to this trio of Players Of The Week from the Florida and Southeast Divisions of the USPHL Elite.

Forward: Adam Burtzlaff, Florida Eels

Burtzlaff’s 11 points this season have helped get the Eels off to a 4-0 start. A second-year Elite player, he may not be there very long as the Premier Division can’t be far off for this ‘00, one of four Broomfield, Colo., residents on the Eels. Most recently, he posted a hat trick and two assists on Saturday, and followed that up with a goal and an assist on Sunday to help the Eels sweep the Charleston Colonials.

Defense: Ian McKenzie, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes

The Elite Jr. Hurricanes have matched their Premier brethren by at least sharing the Southeast Division lead heading into the USPHL South Showcase, going 4-0. McKenzie (‘02/Willow Springs, N.C.) registered one assist over the weekend, but defensively was astute in keeping the defending Elite Champion Richmond Generals to just three goals on the weekend.

Goaltender: Henri Pelletier, Richmond Generals

The returning champion goaltender Pelletier (‘00/North Potomac, Md.) stopped 45 saves from a strong Carolina Jr. Hurricanes team on Saturday. He stands at 1-1 on the season with a 13-save shutout on Sept. 14, and glowing numbers, such as a 1.50 goals against average and .951 save percentage.
