The Florida Eels are pleased to announce the commitment of Kyle Ziemba to play college hockey and attend Indiana University Pennsylvania. Ziemba’s impressive on-ice performances, along with his strong character and work ethic, caught the attention of the coaching staff at IUP.

Ziemba’s stats speak for themselves. In the 2022-2023 season with the Eels, he recorded 37 points in 44 games, including 6 goals and 31 assists. Ziemba’s contributions weren’t limited to just offense, however. He also demonstrated his abilities as a two-way defenseman by consistently making smart plays in the defensive zone and using his physicality to disrupt opponents’ scoring opportunities.

Frank Scarpaci, head coach of the Florida Eels, had high praise for Ziemba’s character and skills. According to Scarpaci, “Kyle is a great kid who works hard both on and off the ice. He’s always willing to put in the extra effort to improve his game, and it shows in his performance. As a two-way defenseman, he was an integral part of our teams success and a player we really leaned on during our playoff run.”

Scarpaci also highlighted Ziemba’s leadership qualities and his ability to elevate the play of his teammates. “Kyle’s a natural leader who sets a positive example for his fellow players as well as in the community. We’ll miss him on the ice but miss him just as much in our day-to-day training. He made our job easy as coaches and truly excited to see what he does during his time in college.”

Ziemba’s commitment to IUP is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport. With his strong skills, leadership abilities, and impressive stats, he is sure to be a valuable addition to the IUP hockey program
