At the USPHL Main Showcase in January, the Florida Eels Elite team takes on all  of the teams in the Northern Division and the number one team in the Mid Atlantic Division.  This is extremely exciting from a coaching standpoint as we want to play the best of the best. The objective of some teams is to do the opposite. They  look for wins and stack the points. Sure we want to win and gain our points but it far more important from a Player Development perspective to have your players play the best teams possible. Moreover, when you play the top teams, it better prepares your team for the playoffs and hopefully a National birth.

When we go to the USPHL Main Showcase in January, the Eels are scheduled to play the Northern Cyclones, Wilkes-Barre Scranton Knights, the Junior Bruins, and the Springfield Pics as part of the scheduled showcase series of games.. GM Scarpaci also arranged for the Eels Elite team to scrimmage the Bridgewater Bandits. This extra scrimmage will be held  a day before  the Showcase. It will be a great training game before we play in actual showcase games.

Indeed, the boys would have been off for well over 2 weeks during Christmas break and this will be an excellent forum to get them back to form. The Showcase will have 100+ college and pro scouts in attendance. It is a tremendous venue for our players to garner unmatched visibility and exposure. Both the Elite and Premier teams will also have practice sessions both here in Florida and up in Massachusetts to better prepare them for these very competitive games. Folks, no other program, organization, or team practices as much as us prior to the showcase and schedules scrimmages to prepare their players for the Showcase. In fact, the Eels will be running these sessions at the college rinks. While in Mass the Eels coaches will be taking its players to watch NCAA Div. 3 games and visiting some campuses.
