Florida Eels Junior Program Hits over 7,000 in total Fan Attendance This Year - Junior Hockey News
The Florida Eels set a new standard on and off the ice. For the second consecutive year the Eels win the Florida Divisional title. This year they also won the USPHL Elite Southern Conference Title. But beyond the accomplishments in games the Eels management has taken great steps to get their team adopted by the Fort Myers Community. Indeed, there has been tremendous community support in sponsorship from businesses and fan attendance thus building a solid and consistent fan base.
The Eels average 250+ fans at each home game. That means at both teams events! What is most impressive is that the Elite games and Empire teams play hours apart and sometimes on different days so most of the fans are different. We bring in so many fans with our focused ceremonies. For example, we have Military Appreciation Day, Teachers Appreciation Day, Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, Fire Fighters Appreciation Day and Senior Citizen Appreciation Day. Our players and association also helped raise over $45,000 for cancer treatment for two families stricken with these divested conditions.
The Eels home games are so exciting to watch with screaming exciting fans. They definitely make the difference. The Elite team only suffered one lost this year at home. The Empire unquestionably is propelled by fans jubilation. With these crowds the building is rocking. No we realize we do not capture the crowds like the tier I USHL or the Tier II junior teams, but we sure do a wonderful job at the Tier III level. The crowds are so respectable. They cheer and fuel the energies and do make a difference. In fact opposing teams love it as well. It is fun to play in front of large lively crowds.
The funny thing is on average over 60 Eel fans travel to the local Florida games. In Ellenton (Tampa) the Eels show up with 75+ per game. In Estero we see 100+. In Palm Beach we have had 100+ there as well.
