EELS SUCCESSFUL UP NORTH

The Florida Eels program hosted 2 final prospect teams of the summer in the EJHL Summer Showcase and the Sr Chowder Cup. This was the Eels hosted its 8th  and 9th  prospects showcase teams of the spring and summer. We got to see 37 different players who were all battling for a spot on the 25-man roster of the Eels’ Empire League Team. Overall through out the spring and summer the Eels brought in 160+ players among the 9 off-season teams. These various players gave the Eels coaching staff an incredible opportunity to see players compete at high-level events such as the EJHL Spring and Summer events, the Pro Am NHL Pre Draft, Sr. Chowder Cup and a number of Midwestern prospect venues.

The Eels spit the weekend going 3-3 overall at the two showcases. The Eels Jr Prospects won one game at the Sr. Chowder Cup defeating the Tampa Sand Sharks wile loosing to the event champions the Connecticut Yankees and with 20 seconds left we lost to Net Work Hockey.

On the other hand the other Eels Jr B team did extremely well at the EJHL Summer Showcase. There the Eels defeated one of Apple Core’s Jr B teams 4-2 and downed the Mass Maple Leafs 4-0. In the first two games. In game 3 the Eels were tie at the end of the second period 0-0 vs. the Syracuse Stars and after the change of goaltenders we lost 4-0.

This was an extremely productive weekend for the Eels program, We signed 4 players to the Jr B squad and several others to our Jr A team.

The Eels see a marked improvement from last year’s teams. The fruits of a 13 city scouting campaign which resulted in over 2,000 scouting of players and   the plethora of Eel showcase teams are proving proof positive.

Coaches Scarpaci, Bloomingburg and Sanders and all very excited about this coming year. We have over 40+ new players joining us and the main camp will be a battle royal for the valued spots on the Eels teams.
